Rae's Story

Rae is Managing Director of Hunter McLeod. While she is born and bred in the South Island, she completed her Bachelor in Business and Accountancy in Melbourne. Rae also spent time working in Australia before moving back to New Zealand where she was appointed partner at a Queenstown firm.

Rae started Hunter McLeod in 2003 to make sure her clients and their businesses had the best chance of success. “I believed there was a need to provide something more than just compliance accounting alone.“

“You can have your Tax, your GST, your Payroll, your IT and you don’t have to go to other places, you don’t have to have a bookkeeper.”

Caleb's Story

Caleb is our Senior Tax Chartered Accountant and has been with us since 2015. He grew up on a seed/grain farm in Winton which he is still involved with.  He completed his Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting at Otago University and did his Chartered Accountant studies in Christchurch. Caleb worked in Invercargill and Christchurch dealing with a wide range of clients before making the move to us here in Queenstown.

Caleb’s areas of expertise are:

• New Business Setup
• Tailored Tax Advice
• Property Transactions
• Management Reporting

When not in the office Caleb enjoys making the most of the Queenstown backyard and going fishing, skiing and wakeboarding.

Sapphira's Story

Sapphira is our Chartered Accountant Manager and has been with us since 2014. Born and raised in Oamaru she is a true Southern girl. After completing her Bachelor in Commerce, double majoring in Accounting and Business Law, she worked in Australia and New Zealand before deciding to settle in Queenstown. Sapphira’s areas of expertise are:

• Completing your tax returns
• Making sure you're claiming everything you should be
• Creating business strategies to make you a more competitive business
• Making sure your financials are filed on time
• Planning for the future

Outside of work hours Sapphira enjoys being mum to her daughter Amelia as well as taking advantage of the outdoor activities the regions has to offer, walking tracks in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.

Chloe's Story

Chloe is our newest Senior Chartered Accountant. She has an extensive Accounting experience throughout Australia and New Zealand. After completing her Bachelor in Commerce, double majoring in Accounting and Finance, Chloe worked in Dunedin while completing her Chartered Accountancy Studies.

After finishing her studies she did a six-month secondment with Findex to Australia, helping implement New Zealand Tax training and learning the ins and outs of the Australian Tax System, Chloe decided to move home to New Zealand to be closer to Family settling in Queenstown.

Chloe specialises in:

• Completing your GST, Tax and Annual Accounts
• Cash Flows and Forecasting
• Making sure your accounting system is set up and running smoothly.

In her spare time, you can find Chloe taking advantage of the local Central Otago wineries and restaurants, socialising with friends and escaping to the country.

Hylton's Story

Hylton brings a fresh approach to the team. Hylton makes sure:

• Your GST is filed accurately and on time
• Your invoicing is completed quickly and;
• Your Annual accounts and Tax returns are completed on time too.

He's also a 'born and bred' Queenstown local spending his schooling years in the region before moving away to begin his studies at University of Otago. In his spare time Hylton enjoys going walking in Central, rugby, tennis and hanging out with mates.

Sarah's Story

Sarah is our Practice Manager and has been working with us since 2014. After moving from Auckland to Queenstown to complete her studies, she began as our Receptionist and Personal Assistant and took on the Practice Manager role in 2016. She looks after all thing’s admin related for Hunter McLeod and the smooth running of the day to day office.

Outside of work hours Sarah enjoys being active and the extensive wine offerings Central Otago has on offer.

Bronwens Story

Bronwen is our IT Accounting Systems technician. She is a whizz at all things IT and computer related. Bronwen moved to us from South Africa in 2014. Prior to moving to NZ Bronwen worked for the Imperial College London.

Bronwen specialises in:

• Setting you up with an up to date accounting software or converting your existing accounting software to a better system
• Your Point of Sale support person and master of reconciling Point of Sale to Xero
• Filing your GST returns on time
• Finding, implementing and support for 'add ons' like online payments, job recording and timesheets

She also holds an A+ Service Technician Support, N.Dip Business Administration & Office Administration.

Outside of work you will find Bronwen enjoying the outdoors, servicing her budding interest in photography or painting landscapes of our magnificent country.

Myles's Story

Myles grew up in Southland before studying at University of Otago. In his third year he transferred back to Southland to finish off his studies and completed an internship at a local accounting firm. Upon completion Myles moved to Wellington and joined the KiwiRail team.

During his tenure in Wellington Myles worked on large scale, high value infrastructure projects. His professional passions lie in developing local businesses. Myles specialises in:

• Creating your online presence
• Bridging your accounting software with Xero apps
• Learning seminars

Outside of work you’ll find Myles tinkering in the back of a garage, playing piano or working on one of his many projects.

James's Story

James grew up in Dunedin and spent many of his holidays and spare time here in Queenstown. He started with us in 2019 while studying Accounting and Economics (minoring in Politics) at University of Otago.

James speciailises in:

• Xero add ons
• IT
• GST

He is currently a Chartered Accountant Australia New Zealand (CAANZ) student representative at the University of Otago, and has aspirations to become a Chartered Accountant himself.

Outside of work James enjoys the great outdoors such as skiing, mountain biking, running and golf.
